Description
The Galapagos subspecies of American Oystercatcher (Haematopus palliatus galapagensis) is a large black shorebird with distinctive long red bill, pink legs, and white belly. They feed on bivalves, mollusks, and crustaceans, which they pry open with their strong beak. Somewhat rare, their population is around only 200 pairs.
